The feed bar is for large dogs, and due to the structure of the Savic Ergo Feeder, it makes life somewhat easier for dogs with these disorders. The dog goes directly to the food, without having to reach that far down, and this means that the spine does not come under pressure. It also gives the dog a better digestion when the dog is standing this way at the feeding bowl. But it is also an excellent food set for large dogs in general.
